The grille appears to be from a 1971-78 model. The roof is correct for 1981, I think.

Unclear. Hard to find a definitive source. This page talks about a “Muscle” design for the 1981 J-series.

The razor grille was a J-Series thing from 1971-78 and 1974-78 Cherokee thing . The Hemmings ad you linked has the proper 1981-87 J-Series/81-83 Cherokee grille. According to Standard Catalog of American Trucks.

The Jeep in the OP  ad has the razor grille. It was probably swapped in at some point.

Look at the lights, too. The razor grille from 1971-78 had round headlights that stuck out a bit proud of the grille . The 1981-87 grille had recessed rectangular headlights . And, of course, the 1979-80 had the same grille as the Wagoneer.

The 1971-78 razor grille had 22 thin vertical slots. The 1981-87 grille had 14 much wider and more rectangular slots.
